NHTSA Forces Combi to Initiate Child Car Seat Recall

This recall was initiated in response to a mandate the company received from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), as officials at the NHTSA had been the ones who had conducted follow-up testing on the recalled car seats and had, as a result, found that the safety restraints were susceptible to breaking during motor vehicle crashes.

Although officials at Combi tried to avoid having to issue the recall by showing the NHTSA the results of the company’s own testing on these car seats, the NHTSA rejected the company’s petition and has forced this recall to take place.

Parents who own the recalled Combi child car seats and have registered these seats with the company will:

  • Be contacted by Combi representatives in the coming weeks
  • Be receiving harness replacement kits, which are intended to strengthen the reportedly defective restraints on the recalled car seats
  • Be able to receive additional information regarding this recall by calling 800-543-7734.
